Dr. Jason Bojar has an extensive educational and clinical background. He completed a Master of Science degree in human clinical nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, one of the most highly regarded nutrition programs in the United States. Dr. Bojar is a board-certified Nutrition Specialist, which represents the highest standard of nutritional competence and formally recognizes successful completion of rigorous and demanding eligibility requirements, including postgraduate education and demonstration of a breadth of knowledge for effective practice in the realm of nutrition. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in cell biology and neuroscience from Montana State University.
Upon completion of his undergraduate work, Dr. Bojar moved to Minneapolis to study chiropractic medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. During his time at Northwestern, he began studying functional medicine and nutritional medicine.
Dr. Bojar lives in Ridgway with his wife, Dr. Jessica Balbo, and their dog Sticks. He stays active in the community by lecturing on health-related topics, writing for regional publications and supporting local events and charities. He enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, trail running and wake surfing. Dr. Jessica Balbo’s ability to seamlessly integrate a variety of customized therapeutic techniques into each patient visit has established her as a leading healthcare provider in Southwestern Colorado.
Prior to moving to Ridgway, Colorado, to live, work and play in the mountains, she worked at a clinic that offered advanced healing treatments to elite athletes, including Ironman competitors, marathon and ultra runners, NFL and NHL players and various other professional and college-level athletes. Her experience with high-level athletes allowed Dr. Balbo to hone her manual therapy skills and expand her knowledge of sports injury and in turn create a treatment combination designed for optimal results. In this learning environment Dr. Balbo discovered she could adapt similar principles to a broader population of active adults and young people.
In 2007 Dr. Balbo earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While at Northwestern she studied to become a certified acupuncturist and now regularly practices chiropractic acupuncture. Dr. Balbo interned at Woodwinds Hospital in an integrative medical setting that offered a rare opportunity for collaboration among multiple healthcare disciplines. She has a Bachelor of Science in cell biology and neuroscience from Montana State University.
Dr. Balbo stays on the cutting edge of therapeutic practices and has completed hundreds of hours of post-doctoral training. She is certified in Active Release Technique (ART), Kinesio Taping and Yamuna Body Rolling. In addition she has extensive continuing education credit hours in injury rehabilitation, nutrition and functional medicine and neuro-cranial techniques.
